HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 33

Requesting the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, to name the section of highway from the I-64 Fifth Street interchange to the city limits of Huntington the Robert E. Femoyer Boulevard with the posting of a Department of Transportation, Division of Highways sign visible to those exiting the interstate highway.

Whereas, Robert E. Femoyer was a native of Huntington, West Virginia; and
Whereas, The President of the United States pursuant to Acts of Congress approved March 3, 1863, and July 9, 1918, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor to Second Lieutenant Robert E. Femoyer, Air Corps, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity involving risk of life above and beyond the call of duty in action with the enemy near Merseburg, Germany, on November 2, 1944; and
Whereas, The World War II hero Robert E. Femoyer was killed at age twenty-three following a bombing run over Germany; and
Whereas, The name and the distinguished acts of heroism are recorded for history; and
Whereas, Robert E. Femoyer's fellow soldiers had great admiration for his heroic achievements; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, is hereby requested to name the section of highway from the I-64 Fifth Street interchange to the city limits of Huntington the Robert E. Femoyer Boulevard with the posting of a Department of Transportation, Division of Highways sign visible to those exiting the interstate highway; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and the Governor of West Virginia.
